Welcome to Volume 1 of my new series Miscellaneous Musings. This newsletter is a bit of a riff on my unofficially named Things That are Making Me Smile segment that I’ve been putting at the end of my emails that I expanded upon more in my OIW (Outfits in the Wild) post last month. If you’re new here, it’s a compilation of things that have caught my eye, made me laugh, or sometimes, I can’t live without.

I’ll continue to include a few bits and bobs at the end of my weekly emails, but plan to make this long form version a monthly subscriber exclusive. I have plans for paid content to roll out every other week, alternating between Misc. Musings and I Can Do That (Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3). I’ll continue to throw in a 2.0 here and there when I have more to say about a topic, plus my Google Maps and coordinating travel guides when I finally travel somewhere other than Hawai’i again (definitely not complaining).

I appreciate all of my subscribers, paid or otherwise, and am so happy you’re here.

If you haven’t noticed, I wear The Fillia Bracelet from Laura Lombardi pretty much everyday. I like that it’s substantial without being cumbersome and look forward to pairing it with my dad’s Tudor watch when I finally get it back from the repair shop. As someone who’s rebuilding their jewelry box, I’m very much into the look of mixed metals, as much for the style as for the price tag. The Portrait Necklace from Laura Lombardi recently showed up on my Instagram, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Most of my necklaces are super delicate and I like having the option of adding a more substantial piece now that we’re headed into sweater season. I’m also into this one from J.Crew (actually obsessed) and this one from Banana Republic (use code BRSHIP for 40% off your full priced purchase through 9/21) could pass for an heirloom.

I’m wearing my Laura Lombardi Fillia bracelet, Aurate necklace (use code FANNY20), Gap t-shirt, 27 Miles Malibu sweater (old, similar), Aquarius Cocktail pants (limited sizes, similar), Mansur Gavriel bag, and Gucci loafers.

My husband snores. Like, saws logs. I can legit hear him through multiple closed doors, across the house. He recently got a C-PAP, and good God, I can’t believe how long he went without one. But, before this miracle medical device entered our lives, I bought these Loop Earplugs as a last resort. They’re made specifically for sleeping, are a significant upgrade from the disposable drug store ones I was using before, and far more effective with two types of tips in a variety of sizes to find the right fit. I still find myself taking them out halfway through the night, but while I keep them in they’re comfortable and effective.

Even though I’ve been using them my whole life, it wasn’t until becoming a mom that I built a fairly extensive L.L.Bean Boat & Tote collection. With each member of my family having their own, as well as the pool bag, plus a few extras for me, including the mini and this adorable (and functional) key chain that fits my hair claw and a tube of Aquaphor perfectly (probably my number one desert island skincare item, cc:

Emily Grady Dodge
). My go-to for daily use is the medium size with an open top, but I love the large with or without a zipper for bigger outings, tennis, travel, or weekend use.
